Preparing Your Logs for Milling

If possible, please ask the tree company to trim the branch stubs flush with the logs when they cut down your trees. If the trees are already down and still have branches, I can remove them for you, but this will increase the time needed for the job.

Stacking Lumber

As the slabs come off the mill, I will need a designated space to stack the new lumber. My service includes flat stacking the lumber, which speeds up the milling process. This means stacking the lumber without preparing it for air drying.

Additional Services for Air Drying

If you prefer to clean the sawdust off your boards and sticker-stack them for proper air drying, we offer this additional service. The diagram below provides details on this drying process. To proceed, ensure you have the proper materials, primarily stickers for spacing the wood. These spacers, ideally 1”x2”x12” and made from pine or plywood, allow air to flow between the layers of boards. If you do not have stickers, please let us know, and we can provide them for an additional cost.

Upon completion of the job, you will have a pile of scrap wood (ideal for wood burning), a pile of sawdust, and a pile of milled slabs.
